Evernote's Scannable: Mobile Document Capture for All

Finally, someone has made a mobile capture app that is simple to use, and gives you high quality documents.  I have to say I was a bit skeptical when I downloaded Scannable to my iPhone 6.  Having spent some time in the capture industry, I had done quite a bit of research on the apps on the market, including "Enterprise"grade and "Consumer" grade capture.  Scannable is the best I have tested for a wide variety of reasons.  Here are some of the key benefits of Scannable:

  1. Auto Document Finder - Oh man, I just love it.  You set your doc on a dark background, and the app searches for the edges of the document, and auto-snaps the image.  I tested the app with all types of documents, from full size pages to small receipts, and it did a great job!  No need to perform a crop after the snap, or retake because the image was blurry.
  2. Scanning on iPhone, iPad and Android
    Automatically Finds Documents

  3. Auto Image Processing - Once you have snapped your picture, some magic happens, and the image is auto-adjusted for the best quality.  From what i can tell, the product provides deskew, despeckle, auto-cropping and adjustment of color.
  4. Fast Multi-page Document Scanning - One of the drawbacks to other apps is that each page is an ordeal, and it can be quite time consuming when you try and scan multi-page docs.  With Scannable, I can layout my document pages, hover for a brief moment over each, and it auto-snaps!!
  5. Integration - Once you are done with a scan, you have a variety of option on where you can send it.  Right now, here are your options: Evernote, Mail, Message, Export (iCloud), Camera Roll and More (installed apps).
  6. Mobile Scanning
    Variety of Integration Options

  7. PDF Conversion - post scan, in your Evernote Notebook, you have the ability to view the document as an attachment, and it converts to PDF.
  8. Integration with Fujitsu ScanSnap - Although really great for smaller documents, you may have the need to use a sheet fed scanner for higher page counts.  You have the option of using a Fujitsu ScanSnap wireless scanner as an input source as well.
  9. LinkedIn Integration - If you use Scannable for business card scanning, it auto-reads the information on the card, and finds the individual on LinkedIn.

  10. The best part about this application is that it is free!!  I would highly recommend it for any working professional that would like to always have a scanner in their pocket ;)
